    Cannot Play Dual Layer DVDs

    I'm using a litone 16x DVDROM. My prob is I cannot playback a dual DVD with PowerDVD. Windows explorer recognise the CD as 7 GB, but it only sees the video_ts directory. Can anybody tell me why? I can play normal DVD just fine.

    I'm using Win XP Pro
    PowerDVD XP

        Same problem happen in Win98/2000Pro/XP

        I try to play double layer DVD (DVD9) with PowerDVD on Windows 98/2000Pro/XP, all failed. PowerDVD just display an error message "Unknown Format".

        I also try with WinDVD and CineMaster, worst still...no responce at all.

          are you saying all DVD or just the DVD9 ?
          first check on your DVD firmware make sure it was the newest one
          second the IDE driver i have some experience with this ,just try all IDE driver for your motherboard you can get
          and third try to change the DVDROM perhaps its damaged or something

              check your firmware

              open the windows explorer and right click on your cd rom drive and goto properties and click on hardware it should say hardware verison or someting like that

                  try this
                  open regedit->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SYSTEM
                  ->CurrentControlSet->Services->delete "Udfs"->exit regedit and restart.

                  you may want to export that key first, in case you want to restore it.

                  I got Harry Potter 2 DVD that cannot be played back before deleting the key above, although I still have some slight stutter on playback of some DVD9 disc. Still WinDVD cannot playback some of the disc too, but PowerDVD can.

                      I agree with u

                      i am running Windows ME and have an LG 16X DVD ROM with PowerDVD XP and the DVDs play fine.

                      it's got to be an OS problem with u guys most probably.
