I've experienced some problems like this.
After I started burning my DVDs (and, sure, after I lost some
DVD-R disks...) I saw that this has some relation with the way
the disks are authored (or even with how we "back-up" a disk).
I mean, when I back-up an "original" DVD, if I cut-off the first
audio channel of the movie the resultant DVD-R will not play in
some stand-alone DVD players (such as Philips 720 model) but
will play OK in others (such as Philips 707 model). On the other
hand, if I keep the first audio channel, then the resultant DVD-R
plays OK in both players mentioned above.
Sorry about my english...

I had a similar problem except that my drive was able to recognize it (sometimes) after repeatedly ejecting/inserting the DVD, lets say a hundred times . Eventually I got tired of the situation and went to the store to get a new one while the warranty was still on. Since I have my new drive I don't have the trouble anymore.Comment

The DVD disc's are clean, they play on my DVD player and my PS2. I have a Creative 12x DVD Drive.
Basically I just wanted to know if there were any new copy protection features on the DVD's because it is only happening with Newer DVD's. The drive tries to read the disc's and then just automatically ejects the DVD.
Any Idea's?Comment

"I just wanted to know if there were any new copy protection features on the DVD's"
Nope. As far as I know, the last addition to DVD protection was the seldom applied RCE, about two years ago.
Just curious - have you just as recently been able to successfully play "older" DVDs on this same player? If not, perhaps your drive needs a cleaning. Maxell makes a DVD/CD cleaning disk that sells for approximately $10US...Last edited by setarip; 13 Jul 2003, 09:56 AM.Comment
