Region 2 DVD - How could I play it on my computer?

Hiya! It's been a while since I asked any questions here mainly cuz people have been so helpful and that up to now I could manage by myself but now...

So here's the situation: I'm in North America and I ordered a DVD from France, therefore a local DVD can't play it. However, my DVD player is into my computer (and I use a RCA TV out to enjoy it on my TV) and I am certain that there is a way to crack or to fool the DVD player so it plays my french DVD ok.

Up to now I was using the ATI DVD player that came with my video card (implemented with divx and xvid codecs). I was wondering if there is a program or something similar to a codec (in the fashion of installing it) so I could render my DVD player region free? By the way, it's a Pioneer DVD ROM DVD 117 - thats what my comp shows.

I tried reading the other threads, but I felt like I was missing on a lot of information. Thanx

you should provide more information on your
DVD drive, wether it it is a RPC1 or RPC2.

      Excellent choice in dvd-rom player...

You need to update the bios on the dvd-player to make it rpc-1.
If it's the tray version of the drive there is a patch downloadable from this side: http://www.cybermind.com.sg/modules....op=MostPopular
      - The question is: Why?

Rather than "mess" (and possibly "mess up") your DVD drive, you could simply use DVDDecrypter to "rip" (remove ALL protections, including region code) the DVD to your hard drive - and then play the hard drive version...
