DVD-Player won't play DVD+RW

My DVD Player (Philps 1010) is supposed to play DVD+RW (according to the specs). I just burned a DVD+RW with the same settings as I burned my DVD+R's (they work): The DVD-Player won't read the DVD-RW's.

I used the same settings in Nero and the player used to play all DVD-R's, DVD+R's I ever bought.... but he won't play the DVD-RW I just burned (Memorex). Any idea?

1) You've referred to BOTH DVD+R/W and DVD-R/W, when I'm fairly certain you only mean one or the other

2) The problem is more likely related to the BRAND of DVD than to the FORMAT...

Of course I mean DVD+RW and DVD+R (my nec 1100 only burns the + )

Now I guess the brand is crap I will try verbatim next time (every single +R Verbatim worked so far).
