    Computer freeze

    Hi, I have got a real annoying problem. My notebook is having a lot of problems playing any DVD´s. new and old.

    While watching a movie, it suddenly just freezes, or plays it while the screen is jumping. It hasn´t always been like that.

    I jsut to have some codecs installed for viewing divX movies, but i have uninstalled every codec and player..and started all over again, but the problem is still there.

    I have downloaded all kinds of players....no help. Would it help to buy a cd cleaner?

    What kind of things can I do to correct this problem before handing my laptop over.

    I have reduced color depth and screen resolution..but nothing seems to help..

    please help me.

    "Would it help to buy a cd cleaner?"

    Not a CD-only cleaner, rather a DVD/CD cleaning disk. Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US. If you're lucky, "it'll cure what ails you".

    If not, you may find that replacing the drive is less costly than repairing it...

    Two other things:

    1) Defragment your hard drive

    2) If you're running out of hard drive space, this could also impact performance

        I assume you mean "drive" (as I posted) and not "driver".

        I can assure you, there are any number of hardware repair services that can install a replacement drive for you, should it be necessary...

            Since you seem to be saying that you previously had good playback (with the same bios as you presently have installed), I rather doubt that updating the bios is going to be the "cure"

            "thank you for your help."

            My pleasure ;>}
