Urgent! I need help with my dvd rom!!!!!!! Urgent!

Hi, I have a problem with my dvd rom. Some of the dvds I play on my pc play a little jerky. The screen freezes for a minute and then plays. It sometimes does that all the time. But when I play it on a dvd player it plays perfectly. I have found a reason why dvds do that on my pc. When I play an Infinifilm DVD(Austin Powers: Goldmember, Rush Hour 2, Final Destination 2, etc.) the screen freezes sometimes and then plays the rest of it and I think it does that because of those subtitles that pop out when you play infinifilm on infinifilm dvd movies. But when I play it on a dvd player it doesn't do that. Some non Infinifilm dvds do that too on my pc but not on a dvd player. I would like to know if anyone out there has this same kind of problem and if they've found out a way to fix that. I really need to know because my dvd rom is the only dvd player I have and the dvd player I played those dvds on was my aunt's. So I really need to know if there is anyway to modify my pc or dvd rom so that it doesn't do that. I have Intervideo WinDVD and I have a 16x speed dvd rom. So if anyone out there knows how to fix it or has suggestions please, please respond to me ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most Infinifilm DVD's that I own have a option to have it pop up or not. Simply choose the non-infinifilm choice if there is one

I tried that and it still does the same thing. I don't know if it's my pc or if it's my dvd rom drive. I know it's not the dvd cause nothing is wrong with it. I need to know if I can fix that problem by modifying my pc or dvd rom drive or whatever. But I'd like to thank SKD Tech for replying back to me and I hope you will reply to me back if you can.

You might want to upgrade to the latest version of Windvd (or try the free Zoomplayer), or give Powerdvd a try.

Hello again. First I'd like to thank Batman for replying to me as well. So I played the Infinifilm dvds in my friend's computer and it played perfectly. He has an older version of Intervideo WinDVD then I do. Now that I really don't get. My friend has no idea also why his plays perfectly and mine doesn't. Now I'm worried that it is my pc and so I really need someone's expertice or advice in helping me out here. I'd be really grateful. So if anyone can help me out please reply to me as soon as possible. Again I have Intervideo WinDVD as my dvd decoder and my dvd rom has 16x speed.

                  1) Defragment your hard drive (it's used to buffer DVD playback)

                  2) If you're running low on hard drive space, either add another drive or remove outdated/unnecessary files

                  3) Run a DVD/CD cleaning disk on your DVD ROM

                  4) Try using a different software DVD player (You can download and install the freeware DSPlayer from the DVD Digest link at the top of the page. Since you already have WinDVD installed on your system, DON'T download or install the "free filters")

What O/S do you have installed on your PC?

The DSPlayer does the same thing. I found out that my dvd-rom is LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163. I still need to try the other options though. I was wondering if anyone can provide me information on the LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163. Also I'd like to thank setarip for replying to my message, so thank you. Please reply to me if you have information on that dvd-rom.

Any DVD Drive should work with Windows XP.

As for Software DVD players I like WinDVD and PowerDVD

Hello, again. I'd like to thank SKD Tech again for replying to me again. I still haven't found a way to fix my problem. I've been wondering if I should just get a dvd player cause I heard they were better than dvd roms. So I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me if a dvd player is better than the dvd rom or vice versa or if they're both the same. If one is better than the other then please give me a list of reasons or advantages the better one has than the other. Also if possible, try to find a way to make the "worst" one as good as the better one. Please reply to me as soon as possible.

Many people use the following terms interchangeably - "DVD drive", "DVD ROM", "DVD Player" (different than "software DVD player")...
