LG DV4721P & DVDR Playback

I have recently attenmpted to view a DVDR on my LG DVd player and found that it did nto work.

When I placed it in the machine, it displayed "Check Disc".

It has been hacked to be region free, but I cannot find anything on DVDR use and this model on the web.

Is it possible to view this format on this machine?

as far as I know from the ilvideo compatibility list
it plays DVD-r and DVD-RW.
