    GOING CRAZY TECHNO

    Hi again techno

U have to author this using TMPGEnc DVD author. Then it will create compliant files to fit for your DVD compilation which you can burn as a DVD format
How shall I do that ? When I'm "adding a File" and choose the
SVCD I want to author in TMPGEnc DVD Author is says :
    Can't load "sfmpgdec.dll" or it says :

"The video resolution 480x480 cannot be used for a standard DVD"

Did you mean to say I need to encode it to mpeg2 from SVCD with TMPGEnc first and the author it in DVD Author ?

      To Conehead

      A) You can use DVDLab to DIRECTLY author your SVCD to a complete DVD "package", or

      B) One set of procedures (other posters may/probably will suggest alternative methods) would be:

      1) Use "TMPGEnc" to convert the MPEG-2SuperVideoCD to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this

      2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" v.1.5.11.37 (a different program than "TMPGEnc) to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)

**If the combined filesize of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress

If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode
(As an alternative to "TMPGEnc DVD Author", you could use "DVDLab")

      Let us know of your success ;>}

        Thanks for your answer Setarip

Well I think you slightly "mizunda stood" me. I am not trying to make a DVD from a SVCD .mpeg2. I am using TPMGEnc to try to make an SVCD (so I can burn it in Nero and play on Stand-alone) from an .AVI file. The .AVI is 745Mb and once it's "encoded" in TPMGEnc it's 2 files. A 3300Mb .AVI and a 75000Bit .Wav file. I'm using the TMPGEnc Wizard and just :

1 enter "Super Video CD / PAL".
In step 2 I Browse for the .AVI file and drop it into "Video File". I "browse & drop" the same file into "Audio File" (is that right?) and leave it on "Non-Interlace" and 4:3 62? line PAL.
In step 3 I do nothing and in step 4 TPMGEnc tells me it will be 456 % of a normal CD-R. I ignored that and hit "Start encoding immediately" in "step 5". Is this the right way monsieur Setarip ?

I thought I'd ask you, now that I have your attention

"My Q is this: If you only have 1 file (ie. a SVCD.mpeg file) does the above rule still apply, meaning can I put this file into the VIDEO_TS folder and burn it to DVD+R without further ado ?"

"I am not trying to make a DVD from a SVCD .mpeg2. I am using TPMGEnc to try to make an SVCD (so I can burn it in Nero and play on Stand-alone) from an .AVI file."

"Well I think you slightly "mizunda stood" me."

You read the first two quotes from your postings. I would ask if YOU understand your own posts...

I'm sure a more tolerant poster (or Techno) will be happy to respond further...

            Sorry setarip

I know I sound confused. It was actually 2 different things alltogether. (too much stuff in my head)
If you don't have the time to answer this last one it's ok. I am
totally new to this and trying to learn and I am sorry if my Questions
comes out like garbled incoherent stuff.
I do hope that someone can answer my .AVI to SVCD though

              lol

You are wanting to create SVCD to DVD? In my experience (I could be wrong) there is no way to do it.

to create SVCD to DVD using TMPGEnc simply follow the wzard and select the correct region for your DVD

Once encoded - use TMPGEnc DVD author to author the DVD encoded file and it will create files compliant to burn to DVD

Thanks techno for being tolerant with me.

You are wanting to create SVCD to DVD?
I'm afraid I messed things up in my head and was writing that
part about SVCD to DVD - thing. It's just too many "acronyms".
If (and I'm treading gently now ) you have got the time, can you
please explain what I am doing wrong when I, using TMPGEnc,
try to make an SVCD from an .AVI file that I have ?

                This is what I did with the TMPGEnc wizard;

1 enter "Super Video CD / PAL".
In step 2. I Browse for the .AVI file and drop it into "Video File". I "browse & drop" the same file (it's .avi and hence only 1 file)
into "Audio File" (is that right?) and leave it on "Non-Interlace" and 4:3 62? line PAL. (can't recall the exact setting)
In step 3 I do nothing and in step 4 TPMGEnc tells me it will be 456 % of a normal CD-R. I ignored
that and hit "Start encoding immediately" in "step 5".

What I end up with is a 3,3 Gb .avi file and a 75Kb .wav file.
                zom sing's rong rait ?

I dont understand how u are getting an avi and a wav file in the end?

u should be getting an mpeg file with an extension ".mpg".

It's possible ur avi file is encoded with the fdd directshow filter in which case the latest version of TMPGEnc can not encode such a file.

For such files try this version:

                  TMPGEnc ver beta 12a(0.11.20.98)

it can be downloaded after searching from Google or any other search engine.

Give it a try ! hope it works for u as it did for me !

                    Hi PrinzNeo

You are right. It was a typing error. Should read .mpeg and
not .avi file. It has been resolved though cus I had downloaded
a crap version of TPMGEnc. I have now paid up for a "real one"
and it works like a charm.
I now get a 900Mb Wav file through VDub and then encode this
and the AVI file in TPMGEnc to get a 1,7 Gb .mpeg2 file (SVCD)
                    that I burn on 3 CD's.
All is well (well allmost all annyway )

Thanks for your input though matey !
