Or alternatively use Linux Totem, Ogle or mediaplayer.

Both my Windows Crap XP Powerdvd and Hollywood Realmagic refuse on DafterT.

20th fox still has to join the 21st.

Get Knoppix CD launcher or Dyne:bolic live CD

      Solution ?

I have had this same problem using PowerDVD, it refuses to play, I have not updated my nvida drivers in a long time, using WinXP SP2 which had also been installed for some time. The problem occured just after I had installed Dr. DivX. Tried uninstalling to no avail, it had obviously changed some setting, although I tried changing every setting nothing worked.

I then remembered a program that removed macrovision after reading the thread I realised it was copy protection on the DVD.

I downloaded AnyDVD from SlySoft.com which removes all kinds of 'security' features, after running this program PowerDVD 4.0 plays all my DVD's.

I didn't have to update display drivers or use any other DVD players. AnyDVD can be downloaded from the makers website which is http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html

      Hope this helps.

          Solution to Error F4D41436 Wi

Solution to Error code F4D41436 - "The TV Out port of your display card is not working properly. This copy protected disk can not be played when the TV out function is enabled."

This error is not for Power DVD alone. It also causes Windows Media Player not to play DVDs. All it means is the display adapter drivers need to be installed or reinstalled.

Be sure you have installed the display adapter drivers from your motherboard installation disk. Do not rely on Microsoft's Windows XP drivers. If you don't have an installation disk for your motherboard, visit your motherboard's web site to download the drivers to install.

Even if Windows XP warns against installing an unsigned driver, hit Continue Anyway. Then restart your computer and try again.

I have just found this forum having entered the error code in google and for those in the future who have the same problem - try this (instead of changing any drivers etc).

            Go to http://www.gocyberlink.com/multi/dow...dId=1&lang=ENU

Download the PowerDVD 4.0 patch and run it on your computer.

This fixed the problem for me, so if it fixes it for you, then it will save a lot of headache and frustration.

Hope this helps at least one person...!

Apologies for hijacking thread by an utter newb but having problem described in first post and not wanting to either restore disk or install older Nvidia drivers I downloaded the patch in the post um above. Now whenever I click play it recognises the disk (Winnie the Pooh - don't ask but then instantly crashes to desktop on pressing play

Has anyone else had this problem?

Is the easiest solution now to install WINDVD?

              Intel Pentium 4
              WindowsXP SP2
              PowerDVD 4
              Nvidia Drivers confused on spec

Did you try loading DVD43. I can play any DVD using any program with DVD43 runing in the backround. I have a Radeon 9800SE Video card on an AMD3200 64 System XP with SP1. (Microsoft technicians suggested that I not load SP2 because of a DEP problem I had.). I can play DVD using Windows Media player, Mediaplayer Classic, Power DVD.

I have hit this problem seemingly after this weeks XP security update.

Only one DVD is affected, 'Master and Commander (2 disc SE)' but works under Windows Media Player, well as good as it could. No other DVDs are affected in this way, 'The Lord of the Rings Trilogy' being fine for example.

My NVidia GeForce Ti4600 driver was very recently updated to version 6.14.10.5673 after post SP2 trouble with a couple of games and I would have thought that was up-to-date enough.

Thanks for that. I applied the patch and then tried the Master and Commander but this time got No Disc in drive error. On removing disc I discovered that it was cracked right across to spindle hole. Damn! I have handled dozens of discs in the past 10 years and never cracked one.

So I can't report that the patch worked as this was the only DVD giving me bother.

Having now replaced the damaged disc I am pleased to say that the patch applied worked as advertised.

                        Thank you.

I had this problem with an Intel 810 chipset and an ASUS DVD-ROM E616 under Windows 2000 Pro SP4 and the supplied ASUS version of PowerDVD 4 upgraded to 2417.

I fixed it by installing new video drivers from Intel

                                Hey guys, new here.

Nero Showtime works playing DvD's with PC & TV (kinda) with TVout using latest drives...though when I try playin on TV it seems the video/audio speed doubles .
