Hard drive spins on DVD playback with WinDVD

Anyone else have this problem where my hard drive is always on and spinning when I play a DVD from my DVD drive.

The DVD drive obviously needs to spin the DVD disc whenever you are playing a movie off it. What you can do to prevent it is to rip the contents of the DVD disc and view the movie off your harddrive.

"hard drive is always on and spinning when I play a DVD from my DVD drive."

Its probably buffering the DVD information, in order to maintain smooth playback...

lol... whether or not you are doing anything, as long as your PC is on your hdd is always spinning at 7200rpm (subject to change). If you can get your PC to work without your hdd spinning, you'll be richer than Bill Gates.
