I recently installed a dvd-rom drive in my computer, and have been unable to get it to work at all.
WinXP recognized it almost immediately upon start-up. Unfortunately, it labeled it as a cd-rom drive. When I open the My Computer window it labels it as a generic cd-rom instead of a dvd-rom like it should. Furthermore, it won't play ANY form of media(dvd/music/cd-rom). I went to the Device Manager under systems in the Control Panel, and it said it's name was a ATAPI 16x DvD-rom Drive. Yet, it gives it cd-rom drivers and labels it as being a cd-rom drive.
Has anyone else had similar problem with their dvd-rom drive?
I would greatly appreciate any help anyone may be able to offer.
