    DVD copy using CD-R

    What's the scoop on copying DVDs using a regular CD writer? I have seen software like DVD Copy Pro that claim to do this, but I'm not sure how it works.

    Looks like it's just a package that rips and uses a DivX type compression to make it fit on CD.

    Any help would be great!

    That's about it. A lot of (intentionally) misleading advertising for bundles of readily available free software components ;>}

      That's what I thought. Everyone's trying to make a buck nowadays.

      What are some good freeware programs for ripping/DivX.

        Ripping: Clad or SmartRipper

        Converting to DivX: Flask

        Others will definitely have different suggestions ;>}

          I'd agree with you there I think setarip, SmartRipper is very good. Flask may not be the fastest but it's certainly the most reliable enoder I've come across.
          And it's always worth having a copy of VirtualDub just in case.

            As Setarip said everyone has his own way.
            Smartripper---->DVD2AVI---->VFAPI Reader---->VDub
            Is what I am using
