does anyone know of a program/player that will allow zooming of a 4:3 dvd/video stream in order to fit a wide-aspect display?
i have a 1280x800 screen and i was trying to watch a movie ("Pushing Tin") fullscreen. even though the movie is wide-aspect, the stream was actually 4:3! turns out the black letterboxes at the top and bottom were actually part of the video. this of course causes the fullscreen to be limited at the top and bottom leaving black bars on the sides.
only some movies are like this, but those few are very annoying. what a waste of a widescreen!
i've tried windows media player and intervideo winDVD but i can't seem to do this. the pan-scan is available in winDVD, but unfortunately the pan-scan is fixed at the original stream's aspect ratio so it doesn't help at all.
your help is appreciated.
thanks!
