    Better DVD playback with a 480p DVI-DVD player or 1080i scaled-up on a HTPC?

I would like to ask opinions on what users think produces a better playback image for DVD: a stand-alone DVD player with a DVI out or an HTPC that scales up the output to 1080i?

I have a Panasonic PTL300U front projector and am wondering what would give the most awesome playback for DVDs. I'm considering either going with a Bravo D1 DVD player since it has a non-HDCP DVI port which would work with the non-HDCP DVI port on the projector, or to jump through hoops with an ATI AIW 9700pro graphics card on my PC to rip a DVD to my hard drive, strip macrovision etc, and scale the DVD output to 1080i through the AIW component out to the projector.

Anybody who has experience with one or both is welcome to contribute your opinions.
    Thanks
