    Power DVD Hell

I give in, I can't sort this one out!! I'm running Power DVD 3 thru a Radeon VE, an ECS75sA board with XP and 512 DDR ram. First problem is when I first open PWDVD to play a DVD: it really doesnot seem happy at all, resets the screen so that the monitor drops out to black (as if I was rebooting) quite a few times before it settles down.

Then when it's finally open and running it presents a black screen. When I go to change the resloution from 16 to 32 bit it drops in. Doesn't seem to matter which one I start with, so long as I go in and change it it's ok. Same thing happens when I use the TV out. I've tried changing the resolution of the monitor (settled on 60Htz) but all to no avail.

Lastly! media player 9 and Windvd just lock up, taking the whole thing with it, randomly when playing a DVD, leaving me no other option than to soft boot the machine. Also prone to do this if I fiddle with the settings during playback, but it can basically do this at any time. Most frustrating when half way thru a film!!

Distinct need for help here guys!!

Thanks! Think you're right. I've just installed a trial version of Windvd 5 and that seems to work just fine - loads up immediately, no drop out and, so far no freezing.. Could just be that the older versions weren't happy with my set up. I've got PowerDVD5 on order so it will be intersting to see how that performs also, tho I've always preferred Windvd so might invest in the full version. At least I know it works! Will also take your advice about the drivers. I'm running DirectX9 and cat 3.8 drivers for the Radeon, but hopefully this has sorted it. Many thanks

thats fine enough though radeon 3.9 are the newest but 3.8 are just fine enough, as 3.10 will be here in 2 months.
