DVD backup copy not playing on my home DVD but playing on others

I have just started burning my copies of DVD movies. Using a SONY DVD burner and DVD Xcopy Platinum 3.2.
Burnt on DVD -R and +R and all discs play on other people's DVD players, but when I try at home on my Harman Kardon DVD20 it starts and almost immediately (getting to the main menu) the disc gets stuck and there is no way to go on?
CAN YOU PLS HELP ME? What can the cause be? What can I do to solve?

Compatibility ok yet does not work

I've checked compatibility and it is compatible with all DVD types.
Today I ripped and shrank with DVD Shrink and then Burnt a DVD -RW. Result, the DVD player started reading and it got stuck on reading but no result on the video. Very sad and disappointing.
HELP!

1) Try using different (higher quality) brands of burnable media

2) Try using DVD Shrink (excellent freeware) isntead of DVD XCopy
