I'm completely new to every feature of TV-Out. The only thing I need to know is the name of the cable I need to get for the Geforce 2 MX 400 64mb card. I did not receive a cable with the card and all S-Video cables I have tried do not fit in the connector. I have actually never seen this connector before. Please respond. Thank you.

There are typically two types of TV-out jacks used on video cards.
The first is "Composite" and looks like a yellow RCA female jack (in simpler words, those yellow "plugs" you use to connect to the TV). With this connection, use a single RCA cable to connect the video card to the TV's video input (typically yellow-coloured too).
The other type is "S-video" and looks similar to (but not the same as) a PS/2 connector. This type of connection gives better quality than Composite, but a TV with S-video input is required (not common with older TV sets).
If your card comes only with a "S-video" output jack and your TV does not have S-video input capability, you can use an S-video-to-Composite convertor. It is usually provided with the card, but even if you did not get one, it is a simple matter of going down to your nearest computer shop and obtaining one for a small cost.

To tell you the truth it does look like an S-Video connection but I have tried plugging a standard connector into the plug and it just doesnt fit, also the pins are different
The connector in my video card has 9 pins
configured somewhat like that. the svideo connector will not go in.

Is there some type of different svideo connector or multiple types of svideo connectors?
It is however most definately not a standard rca connection.
Thanks for the reply and let me know if you have any other information.
I just learned its called a 9-pin mini din connector. Although I have still not found a place to purchase it yet.Last edited by Cypher; 4 Dec 2003, 10:43 AM.Comment

Thanks for the Google results however, I can do that on my own. Although I do appreciate a good condecending attitude every once in a while. It would be nice if you actually answered my question.
In regards to the last post. I have found online some connectors that fit the card and end with rca connections for tv's but not s-video that would fit a standard s-video tv connector. What I would recommend is using the RCA cables.... If I can find them at a local store that doesnt charge 5.95 s/h and $6.00 per cable.Comment

Excuse me, but I'm at a loss to understand what you could possibly perceive to be condescending:

Hey um, dunno if this could help, but my friend has a geforce card with the tv-out too. Instead of a s-video cable it employs a similar plug that leads to a breakout box with both rca and s-video inputs and outputs.
Could it be that you're missing this box?
If so, possibly check with your card's manufacturer on how to get a replacement?Visit my homepage sometimeComment

more info
ok i found an adapter which connects a 9-pin mini-din male into S-video and composite connectors, allowing you, for example, to connect to a television using either an S-video or a composite cable. unfortunately, the site seems to be somewhere in europe cos the prices are in euros. but maybe it'll help to have an idea of what we're looking for. check it out at http://www.sandberg.it/worldwide/def...t=6&subcat=188

I found the adapter to do the job. It is a VGA Connector 9 Pin to 4-Pin S-Video Female & RCA Female Adater. You can find it here
