I have a Dell Dimension that is out of warranty and came equipped with a 4X Toshiba SD-M1202 DVD player. The machine has been rebuilt with XP Pro and the DVD player works fine with CDR's and CDRW's.
But DVD's don't display when I loaded Cinemaster (ver frm 1998), WinDVD Platinum, or Media Player ver 9.
The system also has the following boards:
~ Aureal Vortex 8830 audio
~ C-Cube Microsystems decoder (?) w/ ZiVA DS-C chip on board
by perhaps Quadrant International CineMaster C 1.2
I haven't seen any alerts in device manager but could the problem be the decoder board hasn't any drivers loaded? I don't see a particular listing for this board. All cables are connected (audio out and Video Overlay port) to their respective components.
What was strange was that WinDVD didn't even detect the Toshiba drive as a valid DVD drive.
Thanks for noticing anything I missed.
