Missing a Little Bit on TV

It seems that we miss a little bit on TV with set top DVD players...

    Look at the images below:

    the top is on PC
and the bottom is Set top DVD Player to TV

It is no big deal but I just feel the top one is more "wide screen" feel.

try playing with video out options on ur dvd player....... like mine got 3 different where choosing wide will strech vertical but horizontal remains full. other 2 are... one normal viewing, 2 it zomes a little but cuts the left right like in ur pic.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

gee. I hardly see a difference, but yes, a true 16:9 widescreen looks bad even on a computer.
Actually tv's will cut off quite a bit at the top and bottom, not so much with the new square flat screens. Your picture is very close, and there are many forms and sizes of "wide screen". A DVD picture on "full screen" is 720x480, while your tv (the standard kind) is 640x480. Get extra butter on the popcorn, or get a super wide plazma TV... HDTV will be out soon on blue lazer DVD's the size of silver dollars. This problem will all go away in 6 to 10 years.
