Hi, everyone!
I'm new to DVDs in the PC world, and I've got a question or two. I'm running a P4/2.8 GHz machine with Win2K, a standard EIDE 16x DVD player and WinDVD installed for playback. Everything works just fine. But I stripped an old PC the other day and ran across one of these Dxr2 hardware-playback cards, and wonder if I should try to use it?
I don't know (and can't seem to find out) much about the card. What are the advantages besides offloading the CPU? Will it work with any DVD drive, or does it only want to see the original Creative DVD player? Would I get rid of WinDVD and have to use Creative's (shudder) software?
This is a newer board without U10 installed.
This might be the wrong forum to ask the next question, but I just bought myself a new TDK 8x DVD burner yesterday and will be installing it this weekend. Should it be advantageous to drop in the Creative card, anyone see any conflicts with the burner?
Everyone, chime in with your comments!
Thanks.
