DVD playback afetr Burn with MovieFactory 2

    Hi all,

New to the Forums, but have playing with this stuff for a while.

Got a playback issue from burned DVD-R's. Wonder if anyone has any ideas ?

ULead MovieFactory 2.12 running on XP Pro with Pioneer 104 burner. "DataWrite" DVD-R blanks.

Taken a few different movie clips - MPEG-1 and NTSC-VCD formats and burnt a DVD. Nothing special about the clips - all 352x240 in size, 24 BIT. Some 24 frames/sec, others 29.97. Buring to PAL format.

Burn all goes clean - no issues.

On playback (all PCs and players), some clips play fine, others have a peculiar video problem - audio is always ok.

Tricky to describe, but the video seems to play a few frames, then rewinds back. Goes forward quite a few more, then rewinds back. it sort of plays the clip but as you can imagine, you cannot view it comfortably

Cannot see any reason why this should be so. I even have some video clips on the DVD playing fine, others not. This suggests it isn't the media ?

Interested if anone else has seen anything like it ?

352/240 is vcd standard for NTSC, dont burn/encode them as pal.
also 25/24 frames are for pal, 29.9 is ntsc.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

      atifsh,

Thanks for the reply. This is where it gets more weird.

As an example I burned the following 5 clips to a DVD-R:

      1) MPEG-1 2,960KB in size
      1511 frames, 24 Bits, 352x240, 24 frames/sec

      2) NTSC-VCD 316,298KB in size
      55690 frames, 24 Bits, 352x240, 29.970 frames/sec

      3) NTSC-VCD 458,334KB in size
      80807 frames, 24 Bits, 352x240, 29.970 frames/sec

      4) MPEG-1 933,224KB in size
      142,304 frames, 24 Bits, 352x240, 29.970 frames/sec

      5) NTSC-VCD 612,780KB in size
      107878 frames, 24 Bits, 352x240, 29.970 frames/sec

Clips 1 & 2 play just fine, the other 3 will not. It also does not seem to be related to order on the disk - I have tried a couple - more coasters

My only guess now is a size related restriction.

      Anyone ?

          Hi,

As ever, all files play just fine on the hard drive - I have only used MF for the authoring so far.

Another friend suggested it could be CODEC related which I am now going to go off an look at.
