pc no longer recognizes dvd-rom drive

i installed a cd-r drive and, in the process, my dvd drive stopped responding. my pc recognizes it as a cd drive but does not recognize any disc inserted. system says that the drive is a raite rdr-108h and that the driver is working properly.

any help would be greatly appreciated,

Did you check the channel jumper settings. Are they set to individual master & slave settings if sharing a data lead?

Interesting note for firmware 1.6k on http://forum.firmware-flash.com/dl_f...ownload_id=153

This sets the drive as master over-riding jumper settings!
