    weird problem - experts help!!

Ok, I've recently acquired a version of DVD Shrink (ver 3.1.2) and have been successfully ripping dvds which I test on my standalone dvd players (pioneer dv350 and a sony dvpns700v) I've also tested the final burned dvds on a ps2 and they all work great - the weird thing is, other people can't get them to work on their standalone players - they just get a disk error message.

Now before you all start crying 'crap media' I have bought other ripped dvds from other people and copied them to the same media as I'm using to rip them myself - and the other people have had no problems with the copies of the copies (if you know what I mean!)

I'm tempted to think that it's something I'm doing wrong with dvd shrink, but if it was, then why would the final burn dvds work fine on all my players and not other peoples standalone dvd players?

I was using Bulkpaq gen4 (which as I said, work great on all my players) and have now decided to try Datasafe media (although I havent had the chance to loan a copy out for other people to try yet)

Can anyone offer any advice on this as my head is completely done in!

    Cheers

    KK

    Hello kreem,

I have also had the same problem as yourself i can play my backup copies on my PC and stand alone DVD players around the house, but when i come to play them on my friends LG dvd5253 player it comes up with Disk Error.

I use DVD Shrink 3.1.5 and Nero.5.5 to make my backups - also i have been using the same meida as yourself and again my friend has used this media in his player before with no problems (not sure what software was used to make the other backups). I have spent hours upon hours on the net searching for a solution and as yet haven't found one.

I have tried different media Ritex DVD+RW with the same result.

As you said this is doing my head in and any help would be great.

P.S you can check the compaterbility of your player and media at www.dvdrhelp.com

Have you made sure an empty AUDIO_TS folder is also on the discs?

Some players refuse to read a disc without them.

Dunno if this will work on your rig, but I've had encouraging results from installing the latest version of Dvdshrink 3.1.6 and Nero 6.3.0.3 Unfortunately the version of Nero 6.3.0.3 says it can't be used to burn Vob files and indeed Nero Express does give you all the usual options to select the Vob files but it won't give you the option to burn them (the burn icon is greyed out)

I'm still unsure at this point as to whether the problem was an old version of Nero (ver 5.5.100) But as I said, I wiped it and the old version of Dvdshrink and installed the newer ones and it seemed to do the trick on a friends dvd player.
