    Region free for Samsung SD-616T

    Hi there,

I have a Samsung DVD-ROM SD-616T and I'd like to play some Region 1 DVDs.

There's a note stating that the local code of RPC-2 mode can be changed by users. It is possible for users to change the zone code up to five times on MPEG Application.
-> How could I get rid off this limit?

I've read some posts talking about flashing and region free SW but I really don't have any clue about that stuff.

Could someone kindly tell me in details the different possibilities, and the risks?

    Thanks in advance!

Firmwares are the ones which carry most of the risk and usally its not recommended to flash any drive without having some experience in doing such things.Actually what you will do is just download the right firware (code) that will replace the information stored in your drive's ROM chip.If during the process something goes wrong for various reasons you'll end up ruining your drive.
Software such region killer or region free will by pass the region counter process and thus allowing you play multiple dvd's for an unlimited number of times without flashing your firware.

You may either flash your drive (risky) or remain using a region program.
