DVD rom problem

Firstly my system crashed a couple of weeks ago.I used the recovery disc to get it running again.my problem is.When i try to play a dvd iget the message 'No disc in drive'.
I'm using Powerdvd on Windows XP.I've tried the various places for help to no avail.
Is there anything i can do.
All help is greatly appreciated

Use Windows' facility to "Install new hardware". It should locate your DVD ROM...
