            Mat****a UJ-820D

            Hi,

Perhaps you might be able to solve this one....

Having followed this thread, I thought all my problems would be over if I downloaded RegionKiller2 and installed it.

I have a Sony VAIO VGN-A150 and in it is a Mat****a UJ-820D +- RW drive, and I'm using InterVideo WinDVD 5 for VAIO to view DVDs.

The RegionKiller for some reason does not enable me to watch region 2 DVDs - my system is currently region 1.

Is there something else I need to do?

*Drunkinbum* did the Region Killer work on you machine straight away?

            I am at a loss!!

            Cheers

Yes it worked straight off for me. Click on the region killer icon in your taskbar and make sure you have Automatic region clicked. This enables the pc to detect the region of the dvd your trying to play automaticly and takes the appropriate action to play the dvd. To be honest i had even forgoten i had the program running it`s that good. I can change from region to region without twidling around making changes.....Hope it works for you.

Thanks for your reply drinkinbum, but mine still doesn't work. What player are you using? I am using InterVideo WinDVD 5 for VAIO. I am wondering if that is the problem.
I have even tried using another program called Remote Selector as when I ran DriveInfo it told me that the DVD drive was protected so RegionKiller shouldn't have worked anyway (RPC2 drive).
Remote Selector is supposed to work with RPC2 drives.
I think am am just gonna have to resort to changing the DVD to region 2 as the majority of my DVD's are that region anyway.
                What a bummer!

Too bad it didnt work for you. You are using the latest version of RegionKiller 2 yes? Not just regionkiller......? I know it wont work with the old regionkiller.....I already tried that before being guided to use Regionkiller 2 V2.7 You could check. It will be worth the effort.

                      Guess who again?!

Okay, I have installed regionkiller 2.7
Have tried it with automatic detection on and off
Have tried it with default region set to 1 and 2

Still can't play a region 2 DVD - InterVideo doesn't show the wrong region code warnning anymore, but it sticks, as though it is skipping so I can only hear bits of soundtrack with no picture

When I use the Check Drive option, I get a warning saying drive is not region free
Do you get this warning when you run the check?

I have emailed panasonic with a request for a fimware update - still waiting for reply! So much for we will respond within 24 hours!

Don't understand why the program works with your Sony and not mine!!

I still haven't changed the drive to region 2 yet. but that time is getting closer!

David as I'm typing this i have a region 1 DVD playing my PC was originally region2 bought here in the UK. I had a region 2 DVD playing earlier i have my default region checked at region1. However any time i run the region check from the task bar icon it tells me "WARNING" drive `F` is NOT region free. Current region 1. Don't matter if i have a region1 or region2 DVD playing it still says the same whatever i play. I have the following checked.

                        1. Enable DVD RegionKilller
                        2. Automatic Region
                        3. Auto Start

I know this must be driving you nuts, it did with me also, persevere you will get it sorted.......Dont give up!! (lol)

                          Thanks, I'll keep trying!
The only difference I can see, is that your DVD drive is set to region 2, and mine is set to region 1. I have been reluctant to change it up till now, as I don't like doing things that I can't undo!!
I suppose though, as the vast majority of my DVDs are region 2 anyway, I could just change it and then worry about how to watch region 1's when I need to!
I'll let you know how I get on!
                          David

Thats the route i would take...IF you have dvd`s at hand you want to watch in a hurry.....worry about the others later. It`s probably something simple both of us are missing regarding regionkiller2 not working for you. I would ask around more on other forums.....giving as much info as i could along the way. See what turns up.....Best of luck......keep me updated as to how you get on.

Well my laptop is now set to region 2
Now when regionkiller runs, I still can't view region 1 dvds
                              dunno what the deal is!
I think I will go down the route of firmware to get the drive region free!!
                              Panasonic here I come!!!
Thanks for all you help, and I'll let you know if I get some new software!
