Very Soft Audio on Selected Tracks

I capture all of my tracks directly to VCD. When I burn them to VCD, some work fine, some don't. The problem is that several of the tracks have audio, and even when you turn up you volume on the TV all the way, you can barley hear it. But it is there. I think that it might be my standalone DVD palyer, so there is probally not much I can do. But then again maybe there is something I can try. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried playing the burned VCDs on your computer, to see whether the same problem is noted?

It's fine on the computer. It's probally the DVD player. The thing that gets me though, is that it's only some of the tracks. Others work fine.

When's the last time you ran a DVD/CD cleaning CD (for two minutes) on your standalone?

It's always a good idea to check that all cables are secure at all ends.

Other than that, perhaps you're right - it may just be time to get a new standalone, especially since the prices have fallen to such ridiculously low levels recently.
