Slow to play

I've noticed that when I attempt to play a copied DVD in a stand-alone player, it takes up to 30 seconds before the menu will load (as compared to the original which spins up in a few seconds).

I currently only use DVD-Shrink 3.2 (although was using the previous version) and have tried copying at both 2x and 4x, re-authoring and a full disc copy. The only thing I haven't changed is the media (using TDK DVD-Rs).

My question is, is the slow playback due to the a) media, b) the copy process, or c) the DVD player?

It could be any or all of the above. First, try a different "Brand" of media such as Ritek.
