my dvd (region 2) will only play in black and white

Don't you think you should provide more information - like what region you are in, what you are using to play the DVD - your PC or a standalone DVD player? If a standalone, the brand and model number?

(If I remember your previous thread elsewhere in these forums, it sounds like the firmware hack that "Floppy" directed you to install didn't work out properly...)

I'm in Region 1, followed directions to get a Region 2 dvd to play in my region 1 player. I'm using an Oritron DVD720 player. It is a standalone.

Looks like you'll either have to purchase a multi-region dual format (NTSC/PAL) DVD player - or wait for the David Cassidy concert DVD to become available as a Region 1 DVD.

Hopefully your player is STILL capable of properly playing Region 1 DVDs, now that you've applied the firmware "hack" suggested by "Floppy"...
