dvd player is 'skipping bad disc parts'

This just started to happen on a DVD that played fine before - now it is skipping - anyone know why and if it can be fixed? Thanks.

Sounds like a dirty or scratched disc if it used to play fine, and now it skips. I'd recommend running a CRC test on the disk by using the DVDINFOPro program which is freeware. You can download via the green link at the bottom of my post. Try cleaning it.

On the test, red dots are bad, green dots are ok.

Could it have anything to do with your earlier attempt to install "hacked" firmware?
