    Windows media player black screen

Posting this because I had a problem with windows media player showing a black screen on mpeg playback, after installing service pack 2 (sp2). I didn't find an answer to that problem anywhere, but I found the cause and solved the problem, so maybe others will benefit.
The problem came from video DSP plugins being present, specifically I had intervideo plugins present and enabled by default in windows media player 10.
I disabled the plugins and that fixed the black screen problem.
    I'm not sure why.

speaking of which... Do you know if there's a place on the net where people like me can post solutions to their (windows) problems (presumably solutions they haven't found anywhere else), something like a wiki site I imagine. I haven't found anything like that, and that's too bad.
