Fuzzy loud audio over dvd playback

I've been trying to watch some dvd's using Cyberlink PowerDvD Version 5.0 and I get a lot of fuzzy noise, really loud over the top of the movie. I can hear the dialogue and movie effects and music but I can't stand the loud distracting (very loud ) fuzzy noise, even at very low volumes. Has anyone ever had this problem before?
