Very slow DVD playback

What brand of motherboard do you have?

What region are you in ? and what region DVD's are you playing?

PAL is the dominant video standard in Europe and NTSC is the dominant video standard in the United States. When NTSC (U.S.) movies are transferred from film to PAL DVDs, popular in Europe, they play 4% too fast. InterVideo's patent-pending PAL TruSpeed automatically corrects the 4% speed error and adjusts the audio pitch to maintain natural sounding audio.

If there is no DMA check box available on your system or it shows it not selected even though you changed it to DMA , you may have a motherboard that does not support DMA, or you may need a new set of drivers to update your motherboard support. Verify the type of motherboard that you have and check the website of that manufacturer for an updated "chipset" driver.

Gateway 2000

Europe. I'm not sure what region my DVD's are, what do you mean?

The playback is very choppy and slow, so it must be PAL, not NTSC.

How do I find this driver? - I tried to google search but could not find official drivers.

It's vise versa, you can't play PAL DVD's in a NTSC DVD player and you can't play NTSC DVD's in a PAL DVD player.

If you bought the computer from Gateway, contact them. Or go to Gateways website.

Which hardware is the driver for? - there is no driver for chipset or motherboard on the official Gateway website?
Do you mean controller, or video, or boot disk, or audio, or scsi?
