    AVI To DVD

I am looking for a program that will turn my homemade movies from AVI to DVD. Or something along the lines of like an SVCD program where I can put multiple SVCD or VCD on to a DVD-R.

Thanks for the help in advance.

    2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (a different program than "TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)

**If the combined file size of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress

If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode - Tutorial Located here on how to do this: http://forum.digital-digest.com/show...453#post221453

Using TMPGEnc is too complicated and it is very fussy about the avi it converts. The program i give you is more simpler to use and you get a better result,it is freeware also.
      use this program

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Use whatever program is comfortable to you.

As "jmet" stated use a program you feel comfortable with and get to know it, especially if you're relatively inexperienced. My two main programs (for conversions) are Virtualdub and Mainconcept. IMO Tmpgenc plus is a good and easy program to use, just follow the wizard step by step. You can d/l a trial version and see if you like it.
When you have the file converted (to a compliant dvd file) use a dvd authoring program to make your menu and necessary dvd files. Tmpgenc dvd author and Ulead movie factory are two easy and good programs to do this IMO. If using win 2k/xp you can burn from either of these programs (I save to hard drive 1st to see if I like the results or want to change anything.
You mentioned "svcd" make sure your dvd player will play these. For compatibility check here www.videohelp.com in the dvd player section. You stated they are homemade videos, if your dvd player plays them another family member's player might not. IMO I would stay with a standard dvd structure.
Let us know of your success and if we can be of futher help.

VSO's DivxToDVD will also convert avi's.

It is a free program (at least for the next couple of months) and can be downloaded at http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm

If you have SVCDs, you can use "DVD Lab" which will accept SVCDs directly for output to DVD.
