Hey, you may have read my post from the other day (AVSEQ01.dat/mpg files from DVD cds are extremely flawed )
Ive left what that idot said at the bottom for yal, so he doesnt confuse u any further....
If you have downloaded an svcd/vcd or whatever, it is usually in a bin/cue format, and the files within are called something like "AVSEQ01.DAT" , along with a bunch of other folders and files... they are copies of files from the dvd, excetp they are re compressed to fit on a single 650mb cd... if you try to extract those files right to your hd, and then play the AVSEQ01.DAT with win dvd or powerdvd...etc, it will not work, you will probably get close to no video, and sound that makes you go into convultions...
well, there is a way that ive found around that now
what you need is a program called, Daemon Tools 3.02 (http://www.daemon-tools.com/) go there, and download the program.. this program is a software emulator acting as a dvd drivve, you will notic once youve installed it, you will have a new drive under my compter... now, you will see a new icon in the bottom right of the screen, you right click on it, click virtual dvd / cd rom, then click Device 0, and then click Mount Image...
it will now come up with a browse screen, all ya gotta do is search for the movie you have which should be in Bin/CUE format still..... now, find the movie, and click on the first cue file..(if its a 2 cd movie)
NOW what happened, is youve got that BIN/CUE acting like its a CD in your NEW DVD "DRIVE" once you load up windvd (which i prefer) or powerdvd, it will automatically start playing the movie, with no video or sound problems.......... im sure u can figure out the rest, u can also MOunt Games which are in bin/cue format, and goto mycomputer, then the new drive, and you will see all the setup files, and u can install it directly from the bin file
wicked eh?
get this word spread around, there are so many peeps who dont know how to do this..
"well because those are the files on the dvd/"
Nooooo...
What you are now describing are ripped, converted, and compressed videos. The only thing these files have in common with DVDs is that they both contain videos.
The file groupings you've described are either VCD (AVSEQ01.DAT) or SVCD (AVSEQ01.MPG) - and both of these should play properly under WinDVD - unless of course, you've downloaded crap - which is not at all uncommon.
what a foo
