dvd locks laptop

The dvds that I backup with dvd srink locks my laptop. The burned movies work fine in my set top & another laptop. The original movie plays fine also. I'm using a Dell inspiron 1000 with a iomagic externial dvd burner. Any help would be very much apperached.

Could be that type of media just on that laptop.

I have used several different brands of media. None of them work on my laptop.
