LG GDR8163B DVD Drive region free ?

Hi all,

I have just bought an LG GDR8163B DVD Rom Drive and have just discovered the Region changes limitation with the Drive / Windows XP.

I have lots of region 1 and region 2 DVD's and so really want to remove this "feature".

I'm using both a Hollywood hardware decoder card and PowerDVD software decoder.

Any help please ?

I am not sure if this firmware update by the "The Dangerous Brothers" will solve your problem or not, I think it will. Scroll down to the second to the last post, which is by "The Dangerous Brothers", it gives you a link to the firmware they created for that drive. - http://tdb.rpc1.org/#GDR8163B
