Burned DVDs can't play on Toshiba SD-H400 (TiVo/DVD combo)

Heres the situation, my bro moved out and wanted some movies from my collecton. I wouldnt give him the originals, but offered to make copies for him.
The DVDs I burned play fine on all my DVD players except for the Toshiba SD-H400. Some DVDs take a lil longer to load, while some dont load at all.
This is a concern because his new roommate only has a SD-H400 as their DVD player.

The media I use is DVD-R.
Anyone know whats going on?
