    PowerDVD problem - black screen

Well occasionally i seem to be having a black screen with audio effect when watching a dvd.

No idea what causes it, and it happens randomly aswell.

Hello and welcome to the forums. What version of PowerDVD are you running? Also, have you attempted to "Uninstall" the "Re-install" PowerDVD?

Are these commercial DVDs or burned DVDs?

Any dvd's, commercial ones, ripped ones on my hdd, it just happens with any.

        Power DVD 6.

I've reinstalled many of times, it first started happening with power dvd 5, then after failed attempts, i unistalled that and upgraded to 6, it all seemed fine and dandy till it started to happen again.

I tried to use WinDVD 6, but it doesn't recognise the dvd files on my hdd

post your PC's specs. maybe its not powerful enough? do you have the latest directx? latest graphics card drivers?

if you don't mind switching to a program other than powerdvd, go for 'media player classic'. THE best player, in my opinion.

just click 'file', then 'open dvd'

          get it at http://www.doom9.org

Sure it will (If they're valid DVD file "packages") - Read the docs and/or the "Help" dropdown menu...
