converting MPEG (LPCM format) files

Hi,

Anyone know of another freeware MPEG video conversion program other than AVS Video Converter3 that knows how to convert an MPEG file in LPCM format and output an MPEG1 NTSC format??

I tried the TMPEGnc program, but unfortunately it says 'file unsupported' when I try and import my MPEG-2 file. Any other suggestions??

Thanks for the reply reboot! I have tried the WinAVI Video converter and it does just what I need. However, the download is a trial version and it puts a ad banner right in the middle of my video. I was wondering if there were any freeware programs that would do the same without the banner??

AVS Video Converter is a trial version

I am on a budget and I was looking for a program that I could use for free forever to do my conversion without getting any background ads inserted into my video during conversion like the programs mentioned above do in their trial versions. You guys know of any programs??

VSO divx to DVD is an unlimited trial, with no watermark.
You will not be prompted to pay, unless you want their finished product. It is currently being given free as a beta, but it works as advertised.
On the link list I gave you, there are lots of others that are free.

Seems like your right reboot about the VSO DivX to DVD program. Thanks! When using this program, it converted my MPEG file into a .vob file. What do I do with that??

Try changing the three letter extension of the VOB file to a .MPG. A VOB file is nothing more than an "Interleaved" mpeg-2 file.

The program gave me 2 .vob files 1 is 226Mb the other is 1Gb. I am guessing that it split my audio and video apart. Would this be a good assumption?? If so, which is the video and which is the audio?? Also, do I change the extension of both files to .mpg??

They're both audio and video.
By DVD spec, a .vob can be no more than 1 gig, but contains the whole thing.
Take the vobs, and drop them into the DVD Video template of Nero, inside the VIDEO_TS folder.
Burn.
It will play as one movie, not two as you may think.

I have Easy CD & DVD Creator not nero. Would it work the same?? Can I preview the video with sound before I burn it?? If so, how??

Yes - with a "Software" DVD player such as "WinDVD" or "PowerDVD".
