region free software for sony laptop with mat****a UJDA 745 DVD/CDRW

    Hello,
I am a newbie. I wanted to know if it is o.k. to download a region free software to play DVD on my Sony laptop (PCX-V505BX)that has a Mit****a UJDA 745 DVD/CDRW. If so, which do you recommend. Or do you recommend installing a firmware instead.

Hi and welcome to the forum, tmd71770!

It's always easier to use a software solution if you change your mind. This is one program that you could try - it's freeware.

Thanks Cynthia for your prompt response. I don't know much about installing firmware. Can you direct me as to which firmware to install for my laptop and the step by step procedure?
Thanks again for your hospitality to a newbie.

If you use DVD43Free you don't need to flash your firmware.

If you want to flash it - you have to use the UJDA 7xx autopatcher.

          Sorry,
I should of specified this in the beginning. All I want to do is play a DVD that I bought on EBay from China. The seller claims it is NTSC compatible. I am guessing the DVD in my laptop is from region 1 considering I live in the US and I bought it in the US. I have no intention of copying the DVDs. Do you think DVD43free is still a good software to play the DVD's that is not in my region?

It's free - download it - if you don't like it - uninstall it.
