Are there any good free software DVD players?

I found one by Cliprex, but it installs a "Search Assistant" which runs in the background of your computer and shows you websites with offers that matches keywords you use when browsing.

No thanks to that-I abandoned that install when I saw that.

Is there any other free software that will play a ripped DVD from a hard drive?

MPC aka Media Player Classic is one.

media player classic is best, in my opinion. its lightweight (so it starts/plays very quickly) no installation needed, many advanced options, built-in filters (eg. dvd codec is not needed) and much more...
