Marantz DV6400 - I checked out the link you posted earlier in this thread, and send an email like it suggested, but have received no reply - I'm hoping someone else here did this firmware upgrade and has the firmware file...

              Thanks-
              Steve

                Thanks,

no idea, doing this is always at your own risk, and why i wouldn't do it myself---sorry

Sounds like a few different possible problems:
                        1. player is set to progressive on a non-progressive TV
                        2. player is set on PAL on a NTSC TV
Both of these give results like you describe, you'll have to fumble around with your remote to change it back, check your manual they often tell you how to reset defaults.

                        3. You duffed the player during/result of flashing. I fukced a player as a result of flashing, and it's result was being completely kaput, whereas if you can see a picture or your menu through/in the rolling picture I think it's a #1 or 2 issue.

I'm in contact with the guy in Argentina (<!-- e -->home_theater_company@hotmail.com)<!-- e --> who will sell the firmware for $100 - says he's an authorized marantz dealer down there and guarantees that the firmware will work - anybody want to split the risk with me? Email me directly at SGraySpamMeNot@pobox.com - removing the obvious no spam reference...

You can buy players for less than that which have region free hacks posted for free on the web. I'd go sweet talk your local Marantz dealer first, $100 will probably get it from him too. Or you can use the many freeware programs that remove region problems altogether.....

Perhaps so, but not ones that are both SACD and DVD-A players - the best I've seen of that crowd is about $139 plus shipping on ebay, and that's for a samsung... if a couple of us split the risk, it wouldn't be so bad - I'm willing to risk $50...

I was unable to find anything that will work when scouring the www...
