How to stop rhe region counter - compaq laptop

Sorry for the re-post. I asked this about 6 months ago, got what I needed, and now lost it. Search isn't helping.

I have a Compaq 3000 Preserio laptop with only 5 region changes before the drive locks-in. I need the program that stops the count. Thank you for the help. Anyone???

But if you visit www.dvdidle.com they have a number of products, including DVD Region-free Lite, which can do the job.

No, I did get a reply, maybe it was a PM. Someone sent me a link to a great free utility that stops the counter. I always go back and forth between R1 & R2 and my counter is now still good for 3 more changes. I just wiped the utility out when I was cleaning up my hard disk and now I can't find the link.

What I never got an answer to, in another post, is why they limit the changes like that? It doesn'tmake any sense to me.
