As others have suggested, how about just buying a cheap multi-system DVD Player? The Cyberhome CH-300 that I bought is multi-system, multi-voltage and region free, and I've seen them from $25-$40.Beauty is in the eye of the Beer-Holder.

My question now is: does Procoder keep the subtitles when converting?
Also, here is my theory: Tell me if this will work. I convert the main movie by opening VTS_01_0 as the source in the Procoder wizard. I then convert to NTSC like normal. That encodes just the 01_X files because the wizard does only one set at a time. Then I do the same for 02_0 and the rest. I then merge all the VOB files in an empty folder. Next I take the ORIGINAL IFO and BUP files from the PAL disk and put them in the folder. I then edit with IfoEdit so it says it is NTSC and burn.
I have converted the main movie with procoder and it worked great but did not bother with the rest of the VOBs in the event that my theory might not work.CYA Later:

Can't have PAL and NTSC mixed on a disk, drf. Sorry. All one, or all t'other.
As for DVDSanta, I have only heard bad things about it. Doesn't mean it doesn't work for lotsa peeps though.

Well I started the thread and can now answer my own question. I used a hack for my LG player and it is now region free and plays PAL beautifully. Thanks for all the suggestions. I wouldn't have thought it was that easy. Just burned it to a cd and voilaComment

It's great that the hardware supported it all along.

I spose the region hack should be the first thing to try - or just look up the specs of your player. As I read it from afar, many players in R1 are becoming more PAL friendly. And as nwg says, over here in PAL-land, our players and TVs tend to be multi format.
