DVD playback quality/dvd shrink

I would lean more toward a "Setting" on your player and/or TV.

i viewed a dvd movie made with shrink during the day and noticed that the picture seemed a little washed out, kind of faded so to speak compared to the tv signal. is this normal? is there a solution?

vash, was the compression really high, resulting in a poor quality pic? Did you use deep analysis and AEC? Maybe re-author with movie only to obtain minimum compression.

thanks blutach, i don't recall my settings on all shrinks, but i have seen them as hi as 54% compression snd then up on into the 90's some even 100% with no compression needed. i guess a movie i recall specifically was blade iii, it seemed that some frames were sharp and others appeared washed out. i was using the above settings, and shrank the priew views, menu, and movie, no behind the scenes, ( disc 1 only).

i haven't familiarized myself with re-authoring yet, so i'll have to look into that option. thanks again for the valuble tips.

oh yah..AEC??

AEC is the advanced quality setting for DVD Shrink, accessed from the Backup dialogue.

I watched that movie last night - it looked OK to me, no "washouts". Check your AEC settings and maybe do another.
