    Issue with Power DVD

I have the latest version of Power DVD, and I'm having this issue when trying to play back a dvd. Everythign is blocky and choppy in the video as well as the audio. It's like this in XP mode and 2000 mode. I recently just tryed running it in windows NT mode and it works fine. Do you know what would be causing this conflict or problem in the other two modes? and how I could fix it
    Here's my system

    AMD 2600+
    Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Pro
ATI Radeon All In Wonder 9600
Lite On DVD + R/RW DL
    Windows XP Home
    1024 MB DDR 2700 RAM

download & install the latest directx, and your graphics card's latest drivers.

does this happen in any other media players? try 'media player classic'

does it happen with ALL videos, or just dvd's? have you tried decrypting the dvd's with 'dvd decrypter', then playing off the hard disk?

Well i've got the latest directx 9.0c and I just installed the lastest video driver for my card and still no go, it's still glitchy, I've ripped dvd's before to my computer and they've played fine. In windvd they play fine and in windows media player they play fine, the only one that gives me trouble is power dvd but that is my favorite as well. Also other video's play find in power dvd.

Bring up Task manager while ur running power dvd and see what ur processor load is. Is it at 100%? If so u know its coz of other processes maxin out. If not at 100% then u know its with power dvd itself.. Check in configuration menu for the "enable hardware acceleration" tab. Make sure its NOT selected.. Then try selecting it and see if makes a diff..

I've definantly tried uninstalling and installing before and it doesn't work. Also I've tried installing an older version. That doesn't work either. As for the processor when running PowerDVD it's not even at 20% so that's not a problem. I'm gonna install dvd decryptor again to make sure i'm not making an error on that part.

Ripped version plays fine as well.

I have two dvd players and they both play it glitchy in powerdvd if they are playing straight from dvd.

then checking to make sure DMA is enabled is a good start http://forum.digital-digest.com/show...threadid=44808

seems powerdvd is now having trouble reading data from your dvd drive

Well it was initially set to let bios choose so i unchecked that and the ultra dma 2 - 66 was highlighted for my first dvd drive and ultra dma 4 was highlighted for my second so i put them both to udma 2. Restarted and no go. I know on my old system I had a problem with windows automatically selecting pio mode for my drives and that totally destroyed performance on the cdrom. But it doesn't seem like the same thing is happening here. I mean the performance is obviously lacking but windows isnt' changing the transfer mode. I also updated my bios and that can't be an issue either because i had the same results before and after.

seeing as the problem is limited to powerdvd, and its likely your dvd drive is also a part of the problem, have you tried contacting tech support?

seeing as video works fine with all other players, i'd say powerdvd
