    Power DVD Playback issues

I used DVD Shrink to re-author and backup my SW DVD's.

Everything went fine... When I go and play the movie with PowerDVD, everything looks and sounds great... UNTIL

the program goes to the next VOB file...there is about a 2-3 second pause.

Is there a way to stop this from happening??

    It is very annoying.

Do I have to combine all the files into one large file?

Along this lines....right now the movies are about 4.5 gigs...what would I use to make them smaller yet keep the high quality etc.

They are going to be on my files server for my HTPC I am building?

    Thanks for all your help.

the pausing happens when powerdvd closes one VOB file and opens the next. to stop the pausing, you need to open the dvd files as a folder in powerdvd. powerdvd will now act as if you were playing straight from disc.

regarding compressing the dvd's futher, you'll likely have to convert to mpeg-4 to get them any smaller than that while retaining quality.

use 'gordian knot', in conjunction with the xvid codec. guides at http://www.doom9.org and http://www.divx-digest.com

And How do you do that as the only thing I do is open folder and click the 1st file with a powerdvd icon ??...

lol haven't used powerdvd in a while (i use MPC). IIRC just open the "VIDEO_TS.IFO" file with it (and ONLY that file), it should work properly.

Well I think the Video_TS.IFO is the first file the has a icon in the folder so I am good there....

Here is what I would like to do .... build a ((local)) web page and build link to all my movies there i.e. pass the Video_TS.ifo to a player directly from the link.

I have PowerDVD, and VLC, Win media player 11 installed, not sure which would be the best one to start the project with.?,

As the end result will be to have a menu page display with all the movie titles I have on the harddisk the links built in so a single click from this screen loads the movie in the player and starts it ((watch Movie)) at the end of movie player should close itself ((thus returning me to the menu page of links ((next click another title )) and that movie will start ect. ect. I currently have 78 movies on hard disk and seeing as I wasn't very naughty this year Santa promised me another 500GB's so I will be adding well over 100 more from my collection,,, I need alittle help building the link but after that I should just beable to repeat...repeat any suggestion on which play can do this and how to build the link so that the player opens with the movie in play mode and then closes afterwards there should be a simple way to do this .... I am simply try to remove the extra clicks
          1 My Computer
          2 Movie Folder
          3 Movie Title
4 Disk Number (if more then one DVD5 is needed)
          5 Video_TS Folder
          6 Video_TS.ifo
          7 Play
          ((Watch Moive))
          8 Close Player
9 Click Back till back to Root of Movies
          10 click Next Title

          vs.

1 click my menu icon which loads ((Local)) Webpage Called Movie Menu
          2 click Title of Movie
((Auto open player and auto play))
          ((watch movie))
          ((Auto Close Player ))
((The Menu was Never Closed from before so should still be open))
          3 Click Next Title

The idea here is to have the Menu Open at boot on the TV system
so that its simply for the kids and us lazy adults (i.e. curled up with wife under blanket movies over niether of us has to go hunt down the disk and do the swap thing returning, freezing causeing the other to have to administor additional squeezing and warming before watching the next movie
