I have a home audio JVC XV-N510B player. It's not low end but definitely not high end either ($120-$140). I often play rented DVDs and more often than I'd like there is a bad spot on the disk (even though I clean them all before playing) which will cause the player to lock up to the point that I have to disconnect it from the power source. I would expect that a player would show some bad video or skip ahead but not to lock up fatally.
Is this a "normal" issue with DVD players and imperfect disks?
