Making A virtual CD drive to play DVD

I was wondering what are the commands to create and delete a virtual cd drive. I'm running windows XP. I have done this before however i forgot the commands that where used....

I read how to do this some where in a DVD ripping guide if anyone has that guide or knows how to do it your a legend...

Also I dont want any 3rd party programs to do this. I want to do it in windows in the RUN menu....

    Any help much appreciated....

Also any other way other then using subst cause I cant when I put in subst J: C:\name of folder\ it comes up very quickly with a DOS screen like 1/2 sec and no folder is created..

If you are referring to creating a mapped drive, in order to allow DVD software to play a ripped DVD from your hard drive:

    To create the mapped drive:

    subst J: C:\moviefolder

    To delete the mapped drive:

    substs J: /d

    ("d" MUST be lowercase)

        "I put in subst J: C:\name of folder\"

        That's incorrect. It should be

subst J: C:\name of folder (NO "\" at the end)...

Additionally, the "name of folder" must contain a subdirectory named "video_ts" - which in turn must contain ALL files from the DVD...

              virtual dvd-rom

I have similar problem but this doesn't work. I use dxr2's pc-dvd. It opens vob file directly or just show the dvd-rom or cd-rom. It doesn't read the virtual drive as an individual drive.

I thought I found the solution with daemon tool reading the ripped iso file but can't use the daemon tool because I have roxio ezcd creator.
